a little macrame madness
Remember my macrame work for Aritzia (read about it here). Thought I'd share a couple of great blog postings about it, via Post Grad Haircut and The Wren.
I am ever-obsessed with the knot-tying madness that is macrame. While researching seventies macrame patterns, I came across this astounding sculptural work by American fibre artist Claire Zeisler. I can only imagine the hours of finicky work that went into these massive beings. My mind is truly blown!

Making Macramé with Aritzia

Here's a bit about one of the projects that kept me busy in 2009.... I was enlisted by the Store Design team at Artizia, to make 70 huge, 1970's-inspired Macramé wall hangings for 6 new Aritzia stores that opened across Canada and the USA. So far, I've managed to visit three of the stores in Victoria, Edmonton, and Toronto. If you find yourself in Portland, Short Hills (New Jersey), or London visit Aritzia and send me your photos! These are pics from the store installations as well as behind the scenes here in Vancouver....

At the Kingsway Garden Mall in Edmonton...
It was - 47 c on that trip!

The dressing rooms in Portland.....

2 huge macramé pieces were built onto the closet doors in the Portland store.
These pics are of the mock up, at home in Vancouver....
